Meet the duo behind the work

Chris

It’s the interaction and affordances between people and physical spaces that I find most fascinating. I find it genuinely disappointing when layouts have been poorly designed. There are so many well known relationships between space and the way people use it or creative solutions you can arrive at by working through a process yourself. It is so satisfying to see the potential of a building realised.

My background is in mechanical engineering which is fundamental to understanding the technical aspects of a project.

For the project management side of a build or renovation, like many things in life, it’s as much about people as it is anything else. Understanding their capabilities, knowing when to listen to their feedback and when to push back is as important as understanding the technical aspects of a project and being able to competently walk a client through a tricky decision making process.

‘Everything you love, collected and assembled in one place’. I believe the space you live in should be an extension of yourself. A well designed and planned interior can transform your daily life, from the joy of a beautiful room to a well planned layout making life a bit easier.

Planning the interior design in the early stages of a renovation or new build is key to the success and the outcome of your project. Functionality goes hand in hand with great design and and when this combination comes together, this is really when wonderful things happen.

My love of materials that feature raw and natural textures balance my passion for pattern and colour, creating a timeless and comfortable home.

Our personal and professional experience working with property, renovations and interior design has been a constant theme for the last fifteen years and culminated in founding Hejmo in 2018.

Kate has worked on the interiors of a wide range of properties and runs the design side of the business and specialises in detailed execution.

Chris specialises in visualising space, the physical form of a building and how it will look and feel in reality. His technical skill is in communicating these ideas with clients and contractors.

He has a Masters degree in Mechanical engineering and runs the technical and project management side of the business.
